Tst. (Tsubotaara) Melinda Marie 'Blue Sapphire' (Pba. Eva's Blue Amazon x Zns. Cynosure) is a very unique Zygopetalum hybrid.
A very nice compact plant about 8-10 inches in height. The 2" to 2.5" flowers are colored in an icy, ivory-white background with blue-indigo markings on the petals and sepals and a deeper indigo lip. The back of the flower is indigo in color as well. The flowers last from 6 to 8 weeks and have a nice fragrance. Easy to grow and flower, often flowering 2 to 3 times per year. This plant likes to approach dryness at the roots between watering and prefers New Zealand sphagnum moss or fine bark as a potting medium.

The plants’ growth habit is like a Zygopetalum, medium sized with thin leaves. This orchid usually has a spicy scent in warm temperatures. You will enjoy the beauty and fragrance of this unusual Zygopetalum Hybrid.

You can grow Zygo indoor or outdoors depending on temperature, under bright shade with a cool breeze at day and night time (55ºF–90ºF). Keep it moist most of the time and let it get a little dryer in the winter for better blooming. Keep in mind the Zygopetalum and its hybrids will bloom on the young new growths, so avoid watering late in the day on the crown.
